Mediacorp and all that jazz

I went to a Thai temple yesterday with my mum and my grandma cuz we didn’t go during Vesak Day. Was blinded by some artificial lighting once i stepped past the threshold. Turns out someone was filming something there. I saw a Mediacorp lorry so I’m guessing it’s them. Saw someone who looked like Utt (fyi, he doesn’t look that good in person) but I was just like okay fine and went along praying and making joss stick offerings and just minding my own business.

Well I don’t know what Utt or Mediacorp is doing there but they should at least show some respect. I was in a rather melancholic mood yesterday and I just kept to myself and prayed but what really made me mad was seeing Utt playing it up for the cameras while they were filming, then just sort of being disrespectful after that. Seriously? Just randomly slotting the joss sticks in front of the deities, while laughing and talking and not looking at the deity you were praying to? I don’t know, maybe I’m nitpicking but it really made me mad. How you can switch from looking pensive and contemplative and respectful while the film is rolling, to looking disrespectful once filming stopped.

I don’t know what show it’s for but I’m just really mad and the Mediacorp bunch all looked like the unfriendly sort, looking to just wrap up their work and leave. In fact, they were very impatient when I was helping my grandma to our car (because there wasn’t really any parking space at the top of the hill and they didn’t have enough space to manoeuvre out).

So Utt, if it really was you, try to show more respect next time, will you?
